Parts Found: 1903 - 04 Model A or AC Ford
Please see my Parts Wanted page here.
Recently I acquired the remains of a 1903-04 Ford that were discovered in the loft of an old building in 1997. The parts had presumably been there since before the building was last used as a motor garage in 1919. It is a complete frame with front springs, steering, foot pedals, foot boards, spark advance/retard mechanism, "Ford" steps and one rear radius rod. They are in very good condition - the front springs still have the original red paint with black and gold pin stripes and there is still grease on the frame. Luckily there are still a lot of small fittings attached, such as the clevises on the foot pedals and the adjustable steering rod end on the pitman arm. Whoever disassembled it just unscrewed the rods.
I haven't been able to find a number on the frame rail, but my theory at the moment is that the car was either a late Model A (8 hp) or an early Model AC (10 hp). Its difficult to tell as the parts that would identify it easily are missing, but here's what my theory is based on:
If anyone is aware of another way to identify whether this car was a model A or a model AC, I'd love to hear it!
I realize this is a very ambitious project but that doesn't scare me. I have managed to find a few original parts to suit it, such as body brackets, gear lever bracket, steering wheel, horn, etc. I've made fender irons and have patterns and info to construct the body and fenders and a number of smaller parts, and I have reproduction radiator castings. Now the search begins for front axle, rear axle, and motor.
Please follow the link for photos of what I have and the parts I'm looking for. I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who can help with parts, clues, information, photos, measurements, etc. Please help me put another early Ford back on the road!

The original paint and pin striping is still visible on the front springs. Striping is a thick black line with a thin gold line either side. |

Body bracket and carburetor bell crank. The little loop screwed into the foot riser board is for the throttle return spring. Visible on the rail is the outline of where the gas tank was mounted. |

New radiator casting. Note pitman arm with end of steering rod still attached.
