About the Mammal Survey Group of Victoria
The Mammal Survey Group of Victoria is a voluntary
association of people who are concerned and interested with the effect
of declining natural habitat on wildlife in Victoria.
Members are interested in learning more about our wide array of native
plants and animals and participation is open to any person who believes
in the aims of the Group and is interested in helping. Our members'
normal occupations are far removed from the activities of the group.
The group aims to :
-
Study the distribution and occurrence of mammals in Victoria by means of fieldwork.
-
Record the results of fieldwork studies and where appropriate publish the results.
-
Further members awareness and appreciation of Natural History and to encourage the conservation of animals and their environment.
-
Disseminate knowledge and to act as a source of information and opinion on matters relevant to the Group's purposes.
-
Co-operate with the appropriate Government Departments and other groups having like or related interests.
All information collected is sent to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Atlas of Victorian Wildlife and Parks Victoria.
The MSGV is a non profit organisation funded by subscriptions, donations and grants.
