The Melbourne Science Fiction Club has one of the largest fan-owned collections of
Science Fiction material in the world. There are over 8,000 items available, including large
numbers of fanzines. Much of the material is brand new, having been sent to us as review copies
by publishers. The collection is always growing, and duplicates are regularly offered
for sale at club market nights.
Members may borrow as many books and magazines as they wish. The normal borrowing period
is four weeks. For new books in high demand the period may be reduced to one or two weeks.
The cataloguing and barcoding of the entire collection is an ongoing process that
occupies much of our Librarians time. One day perhaps that catalogue will be available
online, but it's not ready for prime time just yet. Come to a meeting and chat to the
Librarian if you're after something in particular, our library contains many old and hard
to find SF publications which make it a valuable resource.
