Melbourne PAF (Personal Ancestral File) Users Group Incorporated is a non-political, non-sectarian, and a not-for-profit community based organisation, which aims to promote and encourage:

• the use of the PAF software package and PAF utilities in the documentation of member's and others' genealogies and family histories,
  

• the study of genealogy, heraldry, family history and allied subjects throughout Australia and assist members and others in genealogical research and documentation of that research through the use of PAF.
  

• the acquisition and maintenance of a reference and research library covering all aspects on the use of PAF, PAF utilities and associated computer hardware and software and allied subjects for the use of members and others.
  

• the easier access by the public to public records and record repositories throughout Australia.
