Cub Pack News Update 11 August 2004
This update was sent in an email to all parents of Cubs on 11 August 2004.
Dear Parents and Cubs,
As you may have noticed things are starting to get busy after Winter!
I am writing to keep you up to date with coming events
for the next few months.
Last week I put out on the sign-in table a notice about our camp15 to17
October. This is one of the two main camps that we have each year and will
be a great
preparation for CUBoree. It is held at the Rowallan Scout Camp at Riddells
Creek north of Sunbury.
This is a joint camp with 17th Essendon Sea Cubs
and runs over the Friday and Saturday nights, returning home after a family
BBQ at the Camp from
12:00 on Sunday. The accommodation is in separate dormitories and there
is a well
equipped kitchen/dining hall, a separate hall for indoor activities and
good facilities for outdoor activities.
There will be lots of fun activities including Jamboree on the Air where
the Cubs will be able to talk to other Cubs and Scouts via amateur radio.
This is the biggest Scouting event of the year with Scouts from all over
the world participating. I have included the notice with this email. (link
to notice)
This week I put out on the sign-in table a notice about the Hoadley Region Cub Scout Activity Day on Saturday 4 September. I'm sorry for the short reply time on this one, the organisers want to get an idea of numbers for their planning. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are intending to go. This promises to be a great day with activities organised by the park staff at the Woodlands Historic Park. There will be two activity trails, one for cubs on foot and one for cubs on bicycles (BYO bike). Each trail will have lots of fun activity bases based on the World Conservation badge and other achievement badges. I have included this notice too. (link to notice)
Also coming up in October is the Hoadley Region Water Activities day at the Sandringham Scout Sailing Centre on Sunday 10 October. This day is open to all sections and should be a great fun day. I have attached a notice for this activity. (link to notice)
Yet another event in October is the District Swimming Sports on Friday 22 October at the Footscray Swimming Pool. I hope to have more information on this event soon.
Finally, a gentle reminder that fees are now overdue. Please ensure that you have your fees paid by this Monday night otherwise a late fee will be incurred.
It is most important that your fees are up to date otherwise your cub may not be covered by insurance. Please see Jackie at the Hall with your payment.
As you can see we have a busy time ahead but the aim is to provide fun and exciting activities for the cubs and give them lots of great experiences!
Please note, if you have problems with the attached files,
they are also available on our web site.
That's all for now!
Yours in Scouting,
Ross...
Bagheera,
1st Moonee Ponds Cub Pack.
