STAGE RESTRICTIONS

  1. No dangerous or potentially dangerous props permitted.
This is serious. Many weapons are now banned under Australian Federal Law. Obvious props are okay, as are sheathed swords. No guns unless they are NOTHING like the real thing. As noted in the weapons policy, you should discuss any weapons with the masquerade director prior to the parade - ideally by the Thursday of the convention.
  2. Nothing shall be allowed which presents a real possibility of damage to the health, well being, or costumes of other contestants or of the audience.
Like---peanut butter. Yep. Somebody actually wore peanut butter which went rancid and got everywhere---stage---costumes---So you've been warned!
  3. A microphone will be available to contestants.
Pre-recorded tapes are preferred. If you need to use the microphone, please indicate that on the entry form. There will be a fixed microphone, front row centre for contestants' use. Tapes should be cued and ready to play. Include your name and character on the tape. Tapes will be made available for collection at the Information Desk on the Monday.
  4. Lighting
The parade will be presented with broad general lighting. If you require any dimming of the lighting for special features of your costume, please note this on the Instructions to the MC
  5. Height
We have problems with the Batman Theatre. To get from the Green Room to the Stage, you need to travel along about 30 yards of corridor, said corridor being about seven feet high. Any taller costumes will need to be capable of being assembled in the wings in close to complete darkness. Either that or we'll have to cut you off at the knees.
  6. Time limits.
Keep it short. No more than 3 minutes. If you have a skit that needs to go longer, please contact the organisers.
  7. Check the Costume Parade Notice Board.
