About The Melbourne Herpes Self Help Group The
Melbourne Herpes Self Help Group is a group of individuals who offer support,
information and friendship to others like themselves, with genital herpes. It
is a non-profit organization. Monthly
Meetings: New members are warmly welcomed to the group
and confidentiality is respected on these nights When: On
the first Monday of each month [except public holidays and January] Where: Ross
House, 247 - 251 Flinders Lane, Melbourne. There
should be a sign saying "MHSHG HELM GROUP" on the single glass door
(on the right) in front of the lift (not the wider glass doors on the left
that look onto the stairs). Our
meeting room is situated on the 4th floor, so you need to press the intercom
buzzer marked 4 FRONT. Please be patient, as the lifts are very slow. At these
informal meetings, ideas and problems are discussed and information is shared
amongst members of the group. Occasionally speakers come along to talk about
various medical or psychological aspects of herpes. They are a
great opportunity to meet people with similar experiences as yourself and an
understanding of your condition. Attendance
at the meetings is free but an annual subscription to the group of $20
entitles you to the four quarterly newsletters [emailed or hardcopy sent out
in plain envelopes] and meets the costs of publishing a quarterly newsletter,
distributing articles and organizing guest speakers. The newsletters provide
information on herpes, they advise of forthcoming meetings, or of guest
speakers and their topics, or contain extracts of any interesting articles
from international newsletters on herpes to which the group subscribes. There are No Meetings In January or
