Our competition commences each year on the first Sunday in May through to September.

Where do you play?

We play at Fawkner Park, South Yarra, Melways reference 2L C4. The park is abounded by Toorak/St. Kilda/Punt and Commercial Roads.

How do I become an umpire, scorer, coach?

The Association has support groups in all technical areas. We can arrange for courses in both the practical and theoretical side of each area. If you are interested please contact us.

What equipment do I need?

Most clubs will be able to provide you with balls, helmets and gloves. But you may wish to buy your own equipment. Ausport is the sponsor of the Victorian Softball Association and if you visit them they will be able to help you out with the right equipment. You will also require sturdy footwear that are closed in for example cleats. You cannot have screw in stops or metal cleats.

How do I get a uniform?

Once connected with a club you will be notified of their uniform. You may have to either purchase or hire from the club a uniform.

I don't have a team but would like to play?

You will be placed in a players pool, then as clubs notify us of their needs for their teams we will place you to a team appropriate to you skills. If you bring along a friend we will place you together if that is what you both want.

How do I represent Melbourne at Victorian Championships?

Expressions of Interest will be called at the end of July each year for all officials and players for all grades. There is a form in the resource library that must be filled in, signed by your club secretary and with the General Manager by the 31st August each year.

How do I represent Victoria at National Championships?

For players, nominations close each year on the 31st March. This form needs to be filled in and signed by the Association's Administration Officer. Officials will need to keep an eye out on Victoria's website (www.victoria.softball.org.au) as they are called at different times.

Can boys and men play at Fawkner Park?

Yes Melbourne would happily accommodate boys/men, but unfortunately we have insufficient interest.

What is the level of competition you have?

We offer all levels of softball with A/B/C grades, masters, slow pitch and juniors (blastball/modball/tball).

How long is the competition?

The competition is 18 weeks only missing the Queens Birthday weekend in June.

We run a mixed gender slow pitch competition midweek that you can play in or let us know where you live and we can put you in contact with a summer competition.

How much does it cost to participate?

Fees are levied by the National and State bodies and these with the personal accident insurance and Melbourne's levied fees make up for the cost to participate.

Families?

Melbourne has a family atmosphere. There is accommodation for young children and areas to feed and change them. As our programs start at 4 years old there are lots of opportunities to be involved and be kept occupied.

Yes, Melbourne's canteen is well known around the State for quality, variety and pricing.

You can learn how to coach, score or umpire. We need ground and canteen staff. So contact us if you would like to be involved.
