World Shorinji Kempo Organisation, WSKO

 

 

The World Shorinji Kempo Organisation, WSKO , was founded in 1974 to govern Shorinji Kempo and coordinate its branches worldwide. Among its many functions, this ensured that during the proagation of Shorinji Kempo, the teachings and techniques eeceived by its founder Doshin So ( Kaiso). Since its founding in 1974, WSKO has established federations or branches in 33 countries.

Branches of the World Shorinji Kempo Organization are non-profit organisations, so Shorinji Kempo leaders do not instruct Shorinji Kempo for the purpose of profit. WSKO Instructors engage in Shorinji Kempo activities to pass on and spread the technical and philosophical inheritance received from Kaiso.

The main activities of the World Shorinji Kempo Organization Headquarters include authorizing the establishment of federations and branches in various countries, the "World" Taikai and Study Sessions, and dispatching WSKO Instructors to study sessions held in various locations around the world a number of times every year.

The first President of the World Shorinji Kempo Organization was Doshin So. However, after he passed away in May of 1980, Yuuki So succeeded to the office.
