Gradings
Shorinji Kempo branches in Australia use a 3 color grading system. White, brown and black belts. Both the white and brown belts each have 3 levels called kyu grades. When you start Shorinji Kempo, you can expect to grade twice a year. As you approach black belt (Shodan ), the interval between gradings increases as the number and complexity of techniques for each grade increases.
A Kenshi who trains regularly can expect to achieve Shodan within 5 years. This is of course just a guide, as class attendance and one's own ability may of course have influence.
