Incorporated Association No. A0045152MAEMA Sixth Annual Conference - Gathering the Threads: Weaving the Early Medieval World
Registration Now Open
Call for Papers Extended: Closes 10 July
AEMA's sixth annual conference will be held from 30 September-2 October 2009 at the Caulfield Campus of Monash University, Victoria.
The Australian Early Medieval Association encourages and supports the study of the early medieval period by facilitating the exchange of ideas and information amongst members.
By sharing information and insights across the disciplines, progress and interest in the field of early medieval research can be ensured, particularly in Australia where access to experts in the field and to sources can be difficult to negotiate.
The aim is to provide a network of specialists and scholars in this area of research, who may act as a source of feedback, information and advice to other scholars and students. As membership of the Association grows, formal networks and mentoring arrangements may be established, particularly amongst postgraduate students and early career researchers.
The Association assists in providing bibliographic sourcing and information on the latest journals and publications. It will also disseminate information on upcoming conferences in Australia, Britain, Europe and the rest of the world. A monthly newsletter for members includes lists of publications and conferences, as well as other news and items of interest to early medieval researchers.
The Association holds an annual conference and produces refereed publications. The publications include papers from the conference and book reviews by members. Members are invited to propose books for review, and the committee obtains review copies of titles of interest, which are distributed to members.
The idea for the Association grew out of the very successful Between Intrusions Conference held at The University of Melbourne in September 2003.
