                                                              Ballarat Swimming Club

The Ballarat Swimming Club was formed in 2005, having begun its life at the Ballarat YMCA Swimming Club in 1969. Mick O'Neill was its first President and Coach. The club moved from the old YMCA building in Camp Street to its current home at the Ballarat Aquatic Centre in Wendouree in 1996.

The Ballarat Swimming Club aims not only to develop the swimmer, but also to provide an environment that encourages an enjoyment of sport and a belief in its importance. Some of our swimmers have progressed to achieve excellence at national level and gone on to swim on the international stage. We are proud of these achievements, but just as importantly, we recognise every one of our swimmers' achievements. We encourage all our swimmers to participate at competition level.

Ballarat Gold Swimming Club is the youngest of the Midlands District swimming clubs, established in 1998. Slowly but surely Gold has developed into a strong club that is only just beginning to hit its stride.

We use the Ballarat Grammar School 25 metre indoor swimming pool, with regular morning and afternoon training sessions available to our diverse range of swimmers, many of who have come through to be club members from our connection with our coach's own swim school.

Gold's philosophy is to provide an environment that suits swimmers who wish to train for fitness, fun and/or competition. We provide a family friendly environment where everyone is easy to approach and willing to lend a hand.

We have six qualified coaches, Mark Stahl our Head Coach who works with all swimmers and our five assistant coaches who all have their own lane of whom they are responsible for in the evening sessions.
