The choir was formed in 1992 as a way of bringing together the diverse musical cultures which migration has brought to our city.
By learning and performing songs from a wide range of ethnic traditions, the choir has become a musical microcosm of multicultural Melbourne.
The choir has performed songs in over 40 languages at conferences, festivals and community celebrations. Musicians from all over the world have worked with the choir and contributed to its repertoire.

We rehearse weekly with our conductor, John Howard. John is a singer, performer and teacher. He is an experienced leader of workshops and also teaches individuals and has a particular interest in facilitating groups and individuals in creating their own vocal soundscapes for pleasure, performance or events. He has conducted a number of choirs, has an AMusA in singing, and a great love of singing, especially in and with groups.
The weekly rehearsals are run as part of the workshop program at Footscray Community Arts Centre.
Participants pay a fee of $110 every term to cover our costs.
Members also share in the administrative and housekeeping duties involved in running the choir.
