FRIENDS
OF BRADSHAW PARK INC.
Mordialloc has an important bush area in the
heart of the suburbs, which needs careful management and plenty of tender
loving care from care from a strong Friends Group. Do join us.
Aims of the Friends Group
Bradshaw Park needs friends!
If you would like to help, or learn about
bush regeneration, or just want to join the group, come to one of our sociable
working bees. You'll learn:
Working Bees
Held from 10am to 1pm on the third Saturday
of each month, ending with a BBQ lunch.
Meetings
Held in the Park Shed at 8pm on the third
Wednesday of each odd-numbered month.
Floral Emblem
Our floral emblem is Bossiaea cinerea (Showy
Bossiaea). The attractive red and yellow pea flowers bloom profusely from
August to December on this small, pretty shrub, which likes sandy, well-drained
soil.
Faunal Emblem
Our representative here is Pardalotus
punctatus (Spotted Pardalote), a bright little bird which is found in the outer
leaves of trees, feeding on a sugary substance called lerp. The usual three
note call – ‘I'm spott-ed’, signifies their presence.
