BrimBUG Launched!

The newly formed Brimbank Bicycle Users' Group, BrimBUG, had their first public meeting to discuss future social rides and local cycling issues on Tuesday 4th April.

VicRoads launches on-line interactive bicycle maps
VicRoads has just launched a revolutionary new bicycle route mapping system, which is set to become an essential tool for bike riders throughout Victoria! The first of its type in the world, the mapping system provides up-to-date information on the location of completed bicycle routes throughout the state. The maps include details of the off-road path network and the on-road lane network in Melbourne and in regional Victoria, as well as the Rail Trail network in regional Victoria.
The interactive maps allow you to:
- find information on all bicycle networks right across the entire state,
- view the maps at any scale you choose including Melways images in Melbourne,
- print maps in colour and black and white with a title block and legend,
- view the map backgrounds in colour and in black and white,
- measure the distance of any trips planned or taken,
- search the maps using road names, suburbs and/or municipality names.

Finding other cyclists to ride with has never been easier - with the launch of the new Bicycle Victoria Rides Calendar:
As well as searching for rides organised by other BUGs, you can also add
your
own Maribyrnong BUG rides - all free of course!
There's no need to register or anything: just visit http://www.bv.com.au/find.php
and start adding your rides right now. With over 70,000 visitors a month to http://www.bv.com.au,
it's the best way to promote your rides to thousands of other cyclists.
Once your rides are added, users can sort them by date, difficulty,
distance,
region or riding surface.
Just for women
Bicycle Victoria has also built a Ride Calendar on the new women's cycling website. So if you're organising either women-only or women-friendly rides, add them to the women's calendar, at: http://www.womenscycling.com.au/find.php
