WILDFIRE SAFETY INFORMATION OPPORTUNTIES
CFA has a number of opportunities, all free, to enable residents, visitors and business owners to better prepare themselves for the wildfire risk. Many of these are happening in your area.
Community Fireguard – a community development program covering wildfire risk and planning in depth over a number of facilitated sessions. Participants work on their own household wildfire survival fire plan as well as discussing group planning ideas. A variety of written information is provided.
Bushfire Planning Workshop – a half-day workshop summarising wildfire risk and enabling participants to start their written wildfire survival plans to finish at home later. An information package is provided.
Fire Ready Victoria – a single information session providing a summary of wildfire risks and planning ideas. Wildfire survival planning ideas are introduced to participants. An information package is provided.
Community Meetings – a multi-agency information session for the community that will provide a variety of speakers including a CFA presenter. Fire safety concepts are discussed and an information package provided.
Community Fireguard for Small Business Accommodation Providers – the same as regular Community Fireguard that also includes Emergency Management Planning for small business tourism providers in wildfire risk areas. Plan for households, businesses and the local tourism industry. A free CD manual and information package are provided.
Emergency Management Plan Workshops for Caravan Parks – a half day workshop with a Fire Safety Officer covering risks and responsibilities specific to caravan parks and to work towards developing a compliant Emergency Management Plan. A free EMP manual is provided.
Emergency Management Plan Workshops for Small Business Accommodation Providers – a half day workshop summarising wildfire risks to households and businesses, and a workshop with a CFA Fire Safety Officer to introduce emergency management planning for wildfire and other possible incidents. A free CD manual and information package are provided.
‘Holiday Wildfire Safety and You’ DVD and CD – a 10 minute DVD or audio CD aimed directly at visitors and holiday makers to wildfire risk areas to give important safety and survival messages.
Place Based Activities – a presenter at a stall at community events that can discuss wildfire survival planning ideas and provide an information package and other written information

Wildfire Safety Information Pack – a variety of helpful information and a planning template to assist in the development of household wildfire survival plans at home. Can be obtained from any one of the education or development sessions above, or by contacting your local CFA Headquarters or the Victorian Bushfire Information Line.
Victorian Bushfire Information Line 1800 240 667 – to order your information pack, or to talk to operators personally regarding household wildfire survival planning, wildfires that are occurring, registered burn-offs in your area and a range of other information.
CFA and DSE websites www.cfa.vic.gov.au and www.dse.vic.gov.au – provide a large range of information and links to many useful sites to assist with the development of household wildfire survival plans
