The Nelson Cemetery Trust was formed in 1972 and five acres of land was granted for the Cemetery. It took until the late 1980's before land was cleared to enable burials to take place. Two long concrete beams have been laid out to serve as headstone bearers, giving a capacity of 24 sites. The Cemetery was consecrated on 9 April 2000 by Rev. Carl Lee from Mt. Gambier.
