Byaduk is a small rural settlement located between Port Fairy and Hamilton, 10km. north of Macarthur. The
cemetery is approximately 1km. from the General Store and the visitor should take the road leading off
almost directly opposite the Store (Byaduk School Road). The entrance is a simple double wire gate, not
normally locked (don't forget to replace the chain). Toilet facilities are VERY basic with the single building
in the paddock to the right of the cemetery. The oldest gravesite I could locate is not actually situated in the main burial area. It is in an adjacent paddock, to the right of the entrance, but access is easy by basically stepping over the wire fence separating the areas. This is the burial site for Margaret Tomkins, dated 1872, and her daughter Mary Ann, dated 1875. |
