MANTRA MIX - A TIBET BENEFIT ALBUM

Mantra Mix was released to coincide with the historic Kalachakra Initiation, given by the Dalai Lama for the first time in the southern hemisphere, in Sydney in September 1996, in order to promote world peace.

Presenting the artistry of many Australian and international performers and, for the first time ever on CD, the voice of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, intoning a special prayer for The Long Life of Buddha’s Teachings.

Inspired by the Dalai Lama and the on-going struggle of the Tibetans to reclaim their status as an autonomous people, royalties from Mantra Mix support the Tibetan cause through the Office of the Dalai Lama, currently located in Dharamsala, North India.

Mantra Mix features tracks ranging from Tibetan chanting by the Namgyal Monks, through to the Beastie Boys, Crowded House, Philip Glass, Yothu Yindi, Emmylou Harris, Allen Ginsberg and many more.

Mantra Mix is Australia's first Tibet benefit album and the artists appearing on the album have donated their sale and publishing royalties to the Tibetan cause.

Mantra Mix would not have been possible without the inspiration which His Holiness has given us. The artists who donated their songs to this compilation album have done so with great enthusiasm and commitment towards wanting to help the Dalai Lama and his endangered country. As His Holiness sadly told us: "basically in Tibet the current situation is that a nation with an ancient and unique cultural heritage is now actually dying!"
