Maribyrnong Mantas 2009-2010 Season

2009 Annual Christams Duck and BBQ,
at the Laverton Swim and Fitness Centre
Maribyrnong Mantas' swimmers and parents and friends gathered for
the annual Christmas Duck and BBQ at Laverton on December 13.
The Duck consists of a series of handicap events for swimmers in a stroke of their choosing,
with winners moving though to semi-finals and then the final race-off.

Emma Handley triumphed swimming butterfly and took home the Christmas Turkey.

Thanks to Gary for organising the event, and to the parents who assisted with timekeeping and other duties on the day- especially those who prepared the barbecue and delicious goodies afterwards!

The complete results were:
Emma Handley - 1st swimming butterfly
Luke Moody - 2nd swimming freestyle
Rebecca Hockey - 3rd swimming butterfly
Tom Harris - 4th swimming freestyle

In a tight finish, Stacey touches first in lane 4.

Meghan T and Rachel (in a mighty backstroke start) are off while Don awaits the call of his handicap.
Emma leads in lane 1 doing butterfly from Meghan T in lane 2 doing freestyle just ahead of Rachel backstroking in lane 4 with Don pounding down the rear in lane 3 doing freestyle.
Emma is going to touch first in lane 1 with Meghan T close behind and the others out of sight. Is Gary (the handicapper) scratching his head over his handicapping of this event?

Luke is about to get his handicap call while Connie and Madeleine await the call of their handicaps.
Luke clearly leads the field home in lane 2.
Madeleine comes in second just ahead of Connie in lane 1.

It's "On your marks" for Emily in lane 1, Meghan K in lane 2 and Tom in lane 3.
Meghan leads doing freestyle on the return leg in lane 2 ahead of Tom also doing freestyle in lane 3 with Emily powering home doing butterfly in lane 1.
