15 November 2009 The highlight of Day 2 of the Metro West District Championships (13yo, 14yo, 15yo, 16yo, 17yo and 18+yo and Relays) was the Boys Open Medley Relay team (Andrew Roberts - Back, Dylan May - Breast, Bill Coates - Fly and Sam Williams - Free) who screamed home to not only win, but also smash the District Record time previously set in 2007. Congratulations on a fantastic result boys!
Also Alexandra Samarin (16yo Breast), Dylan May (16yo Breast) and Mary-Anne Camenzuli (14yo IM) set new District Records - well done.
Eighteen Mantas swam in Day 2 events and collected 31 medals (11 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze) - another great day for the club!

14 November 2009 The highlight of Day 1 of the Metro West District Championships (11yo, 12yo and SWD) was Mantas' Jesse May "flying" finish to win the Boys 11yo 100m Butterfly and wiping over 6 seconds off the Metro West District Record time. Jesse came from about a half a body length behind with a couple of metres to go, and "gave it his all" and flew over those last metres to eventually win by about a half a body length to great acclaim from those watching. Congratulations on a superb effort Jesse.
Six Mantas swam in Day 1 events and collected 18 medals (3 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze), but of note, none did worse than 6th in the course of the afternoon.

Meghan finished second in the 50m butterfly and third in the 50m freestyle in the female division 1 events.

17-18 October 2009 Five Mantas' swimmers (Natalie and Andrew Roberts, Keziah Hillas, Zoe Coates and Nathan Smith) swam in the 2009 Victorian Open Water Championships at the Hazelwood pondage run by the Traralgon Swimming Club. All competed in the 5km event, and Andrew also competed in the 10km event. Andrew won gold in both events in the Boys 17-18 category - congratulations Andrew.
