"The term "transgender" has become popularised
as an umbrella description embracing cross dressers, drag
persons, transvestites and transsexual persons.
This has been brought about largely by those who
identify as other than transsexual trying to avoid
the stigmatisation which is associated with the
individual labels.
Many of us who are transsexual are not so comfortable
with the "TG" description because those others identify
and function primarily as their sex as assigned at birth,
whereas transsexuals identify and live in their affirmed
gender role, essentially being trapped in the wrong body
from birth.

We do not "change sex"
Many men with TS require Hormone Replacement Therapy
and some undergo corrective surgery to align incongruent
physical characteristics with their "true" gender in
order to experience a greater sense of self
congruence.
Transsexualism is NOT a mental illness
In the majority of cases depression and dysphoria
cease after affirmation of an individuals identified
gender and they are then free to live as a fully
functional, contributing member of society.
