Macedonian Cultural Social Association "Skopje"
This Association was founded in 1993 through the integration of two groups:
"Skopje 63" and "Skopje Social Club".
The aim of this Association is to organise and promote social, cultural,
sports and educational activities according to the Australian laws.
Its Statute provides clauses that it could assist, support, co-operate,
merge and fraternise with other associations.
If the Association falls apart, all the Association's property is to be
transferred to "Drzavna bolnica", Detsko oddelenie (The Main Public
Hospital, The Children's Department in Skopje, Macedonia) or to The Royal
Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, whatever the decision of the
Association would be.
Membership: 60 families who used to live in Skopje and then migrated
to Melbourne or other places in Victoria, Australia.
One remarkable activity of this Association was setting up a fund for the
renovation of the Stone Bridge across the river Vardar. It was built in
the Middle Ages and it is still used. The Stone Bridge is a distinct archeological
and architectural feature of the city, a heritage worth preserving.
The Association has also organised help to people who suffered severe injuries
or deprivation. Other activities: outings, balls, celebration of the liberation
day of the city of Skopje.
Future plans: to construct their own club building.
Details how this community organisation is set up and how it runs can be
found in its Statute. The Chairing Committee would mail or fax a copy of
the Statute to peoples interested in these details.
