What Father Bogomil knew in his heart
Was what all history has proved a truth:
Heresy is the child of all desire for freedom.

Those whose virtue offers
resistance to wrongs
The free spirits of all heretics
ripple, cascade down history's cataracts,
and reveal that all worthy actions
must in the nature of things be heretical:

to thirst for righteousness
to resist the Evil One
who rules the coprrupt world
to pity the poor
exactly as the Saviour did
according to Mathew, Mark, Luke and John,
is to break the people's lethargy
to often impossinble Macedonian promises
to make life's grief endless
with howls of anguish
the severe purgation of the flesh.

The enemies of the Bogomils
destroy all evidence
of those scandalous holy men
but like all enemies of the Macedonian people
their demands proclaim an affirmation.
