MACEDONIAN INTERPRETERS AND TRANSLATORS ASSOCIATION

On December 4, 1995 Macedonian interpreters and translators met at the Aegean Macedonian House, 426 High St. Preston to form the above Association. MITA is the initiative of a small group of professional interpreters with common cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

At the first General Meeting, those who attended participated in discussions relating to the common objectives, interests, needs etc. of the Association. It was unanimously accepted that the Association be incorporated and henceforth operate on the basis of its adopted constitution.

During this meeting all members took part in electing the Office-bearers who will be responsible for official representation of MITA. They are:
MITA is a non-profit organisation and its main objectives are to promote: professional interpreting/translating services in the Macedonian language, awareness of the importance of accredited professionals, linguistic information etc. It will also try to deal with problems, difficulties, issues, concerns and other matters of interest to the Macedonian community related to the interpreting/translating profession.

MITA will also insist that interpreters and translators aim to enhance their existing skills and knowledge in order to provide efficient and high quality professional services.

As an incorporated body of financial members it will be open to all accredited interpreters and translators in the Macedonian language.
