Diving: Magnat wreck site BACK TO START

Protected Yes
Location Tarwin beach, north west of Cape Liptrap.

The wreck is about a thirty to forty minute walk along the beach, south east, from the Venus Bay Life Saving Club.
A general rule is that when you almost lose sight of the life saving club you are about there. The wreck is opposite a large blowout and shell midden in the sand dunes and there may be a white marker stick on the low dunes marking the spot.

Access
Best tides The wreck will need to be inspected at low tide 0.5 metres at the most, less is better (check tides before you go). If you walk along the beach at low tide in this area you cant miss it, however, the wreck can at times completely cover over with sand.
Hazards
Points of interest On most of the occasions when visited, the bow and stern posts are exposed with generally a scour pit around the stern where the top of the rudder can be seen. The three masts are generally visible, broken off just above deck level. The main mast can be seen on a good day lying in the sand on the starboard side. Deck beams can also be seen if the sand on the site is low.
