Meetings

Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7pm in the library meeting rooms at Morwell & Moe, and the Kath Teychenne Centre meeting room in Traralgon. If you are unable to attend meetings, information on FOL activities, and a suggestion box are available in all branches.

Goals

  • Encourage communication between the Latrobe City community and the libraries

  • Promote the use of the libraries by members of all age groups in the community

  • Enhance the social, cultural and education role of the libraries to users

  • Encourage an increase in funding from various arms of government to improve library services
  • Obtain support in developing and maintaining library services
   

Membership
If you are interested in joining the Friends of Latrobe City Libraries, printout the membership form or contact Friends through library@latrobe.vic.gov.au.

Members will receive newsletters and notices about special meetings and current issues.

   

What's on

2007 2006
  • Another successful book sale held at Kernot Hall in October, with over $1,800 raised.
  • Application for Community Grant to purchase banners promoting book sales successful
  • Friends contribute $3,000 to the purchase of a digital microfilm reader/printer at Traralgon Library
  • Puzzles on CD-Rom and non-fiction books acquired for the Libraries.
  • Friends library bags steady sellers at all libraries.

  • Friends combine with Yinnar Arc to set up a wonderful ceramic display in the Atriums at Morwell Library
  • Friends donate Talking books for teenagers
  • Playpen donated to Morwell Library
  • Friends have been conducting very successful book sales over the last few years
  • On September 8th, there was a meeting between representatives of the Friends and Latrobe City Council to exchange views on library services
  • Friends Minutes of Meetings and Suggestion boxes placed in all libraries
