Hazelwood Combine 3 June 2001 There was a very poor turnout for the Hazelwood Combine. This event has been traditionally set on the weekend preceeding the 3 Day Tour and provides an ideal opportunity for fine tuning the legs for the next weekend. The weather conditions were perfect yet only eight cyclists from the Latrobe Valley turned up and no one from any of the other Gippsland Clubs.
It was decided to hold a single scratch race over 4 laps of the pondage circuit. The sprint at the end was a hot contest between Alan Timmer-Arends, Glen Gibson and Wayne Collins. Alan led out early and demonstrated great strength to hold the other two off.
