The
Society aims to provide a variety of events across the
year in order to provide interest to our members, guests
and the local community. These events are run with the
objectives of promoting the history of the Little River
area to the public, fostering community spirit, publicising
the activities and interests of the Society and generating
fundraising to support the ongoing operation of the
Society.
In
addition to our regular monthly meeting, events conducted
and planned to date include historical displays, special
guest speakers, guided tours and social events. For

Cemetery 150th Anniversary - Cemetery Tour
Venue: Rothwell Cemetery,Hughes Road, Little River
Then: Christ Church Anglican Church, Rothwell Road,
Little River
Time: 1:30pm
A tour of the historic Rothwell Cemetery will be held
to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first
registered burial. The tour will incorporate the launch
of the book "Rothwell Cemetery - A History -
150 years of community service".
Following
the tour, afternoon tea will be provided at the Christ
Church Anglican Hall.

Melbourne Cup Dinner Dance
Fundraiser
Venue: Little River Mechanics Institute Hall
Time: 7:00pm
The event that just gets bigger and bigger, the Melbourne
Cup Dinner Dance, returns to shake the foundations
of the historic Little River Mechanic's Hall.
As
our major fundraising event, the Society will be holding
a dinner dance with a Melbourne Cup theme. The evening
will feature a spit-roast dinner, entertainment and
lots of novelty competitions. Drinks will be available
at bar prices. Be quick - only 100 tickets are available.
