This his address at the launch of the Cooks' Tour brochure at Breezes Restaurant on May 2nd. "Ladies and Gentlemen, on behalf of Loddon Murray 2000 plus I would like to welcome you today and thank you very much for attending. We hired a bus to come down and meet you today and believe me there was a hot contest for seats! Today is another proud day for the people of the Loddon Murray region. Here at this fabulous lunch we are going to taste some of the great produce from the region. But I wonder if you're aware of what's involved in getting this produce from the paddock to the plate? The Loddon Murray Region has been working hard behind the scenes to improve the viability and sustainability of our farmers and the broader community. In the last 18 months we have given 121 approvals to farmers to develop business plans that will guide their future. To date we have funded 54 completed Business Plan's totaling $146,000. We have supported 29 farm redevelopment's that will help realise $3.8 million in new infrastructure that will produce more great food - and we have only just begun. Our total support so far to the region's farmers is a staggering $845,000 in grants. We are very proud of our region. We are keen to tell people about it and help develop a stronger regional identity. Today's lunch and the launch of the Cooks' Tour are important parts of achieving this goal. I urge you to take a trip into the region and use our Cooks' Tour. It's a great way of finding out about some of our inspiring farmers and seeing where this fabulous food and wine is grown.
