"The Story Wall" public art project |

A major mosaic wall near the shores of Lake Boga, depicting the histories of the region's people and enterprises.
Artist Zhou Xiaoping, with the assistance of Channels Artistic Director Vicki McConville and Swan Hill Artist Marion Frost worked with the communities of Lake Boga, Tresco, Swan Hill and Nyah to inspire a public artwork design. During a series of 8 drawing workshops over 6 months and a series of collaborative theme and design meetings involving 160 people, local schoolchildren, and cultural groups were asked to create an image of the region. Industry, Community and Cultural groups were called upon to indicate the richness of the landscape, the horticultural industries and the wealth of historical and cultural input to this part of Northern Victoria. Lake Boga, an inland lake of rich cultural and historical importance was chosen as the site for this major public artwork. A Wall, weaving in and out, near the shores of the lake, depicting the histories of the regions people and enterprises. The Story Wall concept is currently under review and construction is due to commence shortly. 'The Story Wall' would not be possible without the input and dedication of: Swan Hill and District Rural Women, Lake Boga Primary School, Lake Boga Progress Association, Lake Boga Community and Economic Development Association, Arts Swan Hill Inc, Koori Unit Swan Hill Tafe College, Arts Studies Unit, Swan Hill Tafe College, North Western Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Association, Swan Hill Secondary College, Swan Hill Probus Club, Tyntynder Homestead and the Wamba Wamba Elders, Swan Hill Italian Social Club, Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery, Swan Hill Rural City Council. A very committed steering group includes: Yvonne Jennings, Graham Wonton, Ros Lowe, Garry Murray, Steve Matthews, Lisa Coppe, Rodney Carter, Lisa Ashdown and Ernie Russell.
