   Training Needs Analysis

Identification of Special Training Needs
Farmers and their employees must have the required skills and knowledge to successfully adapt to the changing environment within the region. They must also have access to training.

In 1999, Loddon Murray 2000 plus contracted the consulting firm, Australian Agribusiness Group, to undertake a study to Identify Special Training Needs within the region.

The report, launched in November 1999, will be of great value to service providers in the region.

The study identified:
buttonspecial training needs of relevance to farmers in the Loddon Murray region
buttonimpediments or barriers inhibiting the take-up of skills training in the region
buttonstrategies to ensure a high take-up rate of training activities undertaken in the region
buttontraining providers who can assist farmers within the region
buttonthe capacity of these providers to deliver identified training activities
buttontraining provider shortcomings
buttonrecommended course of action

Training provider database
The study also produced a training provider database that identifies 43 private agricultural and agribusiness consultants, 11 registered training organisations and nine tertiary training providers.

The definition of training includes the areas of:
buttonProduction
buttonManagement
buttonGeneral business
buttonPersonal development
