Loddon Murray 2000plus arose from the decision by the Murray Darling Basin Ministerial Council to replace the Torrumbarry Weir and to accelerate the redevelopment and economic growth of the irrigation area serviced by the Weir.
The Loddon Murray 2000 plus Committee was established in March 1996 to implement the components of the Building A New ERA program. Building A New ERA The Building A New ERA program has been based on a study methodology that involved a detailed examination of the region, identification of objectives and opportunities for the region to pursue, and the preparation of detailed action plans to guide implementation. The key principles on which the program is based are: The involvement of the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments through the Rural Partnership Program has made this community driven scheme possible. |
