The Lions Club of Werribee was chartered in March 1961 as the 177th Lions Club in Australia. We operate in the Western area of Melbourne, in the country suburb of Werribee some 30 klms west of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. The Club is actively involved in community work within the City of Wyndham, distributing more than $300,000 in past years to charities, welfare and community groups. Project details.
Annual Charity Golf Day to support the Clown Doctors The Club is seeking sponsors for their 2009 Charity Golf Day to be held at Werribee Park Golf Club on 12 October 2009. Click here for details. The Lions Club will dedicate the proceeds of this year's event to the Clown Doctors. The Humour Foundation's core project is Clown Doctors, touching the lives of over 100,000 people every year. The focus is children's hospitals, and Clown Doctors are now part of hospital life in all major children's hospitals around Australia. We ask you to dig deep once again to support our efforts to raise funds for this most worthy cause.
The Lions Club of Werribee was one of 25 local community groups and organisations who entered a team in the Wyndham 2009 Cancer Council's Relay For Life Event. The walkathron was held at the Wyndham Athletic Track on the weekend of 28-29 March 2009 and raised more than $80,000. Click here for a report from the 2009 24 hour walkathron. The Lions Club will again enter a team in the 2010 event (27-28 March) and would be appreciative of any sponsorship. Lions Christmas Cakes for Sale A hugh Thank You to all who have supported the Lions Clubs by purchasing the famous and popular Lions Australia Fruit Christmas Cakes.
Cakes are again available in 1.5kg ($13) and 1.0kg ($10) sizes and are made to the finest quality. Cakes contain over 50% fruit content and are all Australian Made. They are delicious and long lasting. A Christmas is not a Christmas without a Lions Christmas Cake. All proceeds from the sale of cakes goes to charity to build a better life for someone in our community who is less fortunate than ourselves. Orders can be emailed to the Club.
