The Rotary Foundation is the largest private foundation in the world with assets of over USD$650 million. All funds received are 100% used for foundation projects, the administration costs being met only from a proportion of the interest earned before the funds are expended.
Donations to the Australian Rotary Foundation Trust by individuals and business are fully tax deductible and count toward Club and District 9810 total contributions.
During 2004-05 Program Awards fundings totalled USD$94.5million
The role of the Club's Foundation Committee is to organise activities to support The Foundation's mission of supporting the efforts of Rotary International in the fulfilment of the Object of Rotary, Rotary's mission, and the achievement of world understanding and peace through local, national, and international humanitarian, educational, and cultural programs.
In particular, the Club's Foundation Committee during this Rotary year, main objective is to identify opportunities for the Club, through the other Committees, to be involved in service projects which will realize Foundation Grants to assist in developing and implementing these projects. Examples of these programs include:
Local Literacy project/s in conjunction with the Vocational Committee;
Literacy and/or water projects , in conjunction with International Committee and in partnership with District / other Rotary Clubs.
Other Foundation activities the Committee will focus on includes:
Group Study Exchange (GSE) -- Inward Group hosting;
Polio Plus Eradication;
Donation Commitment to Rotary Foundation;
Donation Commitment to Rotary Foundation; eg Ambassadorial Scholars
