Current medical research indicates that older adults engaged in regular moderate exercise have a reduced risk of numerous health problems. They are able to better meet the needs of daily living and maintain their independence. Regular attendance at L.I.F.E. exercise classes can improve the physical, mental and social health of older adults. A L.I.F.E. exercise class is one conducted by a registered fitness leader who is also a member of L.I.F.E. L.I.F.E. exercise classes are endorsed by, but not managed by, L.I.F.E. They may be run independently or in association with another agency. They are held in many different venues: neighbourhood centres, community halls, commercial fitness centres, retirement villages, senior citizens' clubs, community health services, and aged care facilities.
L.I.F.E. exercise classes can be found throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria, providing fun, fitness and friendship to older adults of all fitness and ability levels, from fit-active to frail-aged. A variety of classes cater for a range of people, including:L.I.F.E. exercise classes are designed to suit the fitness level and needs of the particular group and aim to improve all aspects of fitness.
