Let's Eat is a website that celebrates the food and culture of
the residents in the City of Port Phillip. So far the site
contains recipes as diverse as a Hangi from the Maori culture of
New Zealand to a recipe for macaroni cheese, donated by the Mayor
of Port Phillip.
We invite you to send in your favourite recipe and story, and
if possible a photo of the dish or yourself. Tell us if the
recipe is part of a tradition like American Thanksgiving or
Jewish Sabbath, or maybe it evokes special memories that you
would like to share. There is no need to identify yourself other
than by your first name. And remember, this is a chance to become
part of the World Wide Web!
About Us
Freda Erlich, a resident of St Kilda, got the idea for Let's
Eat when she was doorknocking at the last municipal elections.
"I wanted to celebrate the diversity of people living in my
area and what better way to do it than through food?"
Nancy
Otis coordinated the Let's Eat project and is keen on food. An
American by birth, she thinks Port Phillip is one of the best
places to live in the world.
Freda and Nancy would like to thank
Magda de la Pesca for the photos used in the opening montage of
Port Phillip, Simon for his technical support, and Bek of
Nectarine (www.nectarine.net.au) for her fantastic logo and
graphics. A grant from the Cultural Committee of the City of Port
Phillip made this project possible--a big thanks to the Committee
as well.
