The "Index to Newspaper Deaths in Victoria" has been compiled from information found in obituary, funeral, law and other notices taken from Victorian Newspapers and Gazettes.
The index, in CD format, contain full names and date of death and each year has around 30,000 entries.
The purpose of the index is to provide information that complements existing records such as BDM, Cemetery and Probate records and to provide enough information to be able to apply for official documents if required.
The index is also continuations to the public access indexes of Birth, Death and Marriages for Victoria which end in 1985, giving access to a further 5 years and 180,000 files.
