This year the dance party was not without its problems.Lease issues meant the Vaults suddenly became unavailable on the Friday before the party! Our thanks go out to the management of the Peel for coming to our rescue at such short notice. At 11 p.m. on the night one of the DJ's became unavailable. Kat, who warmed the place with her music for the first part of the night, had her next engagement at "Girlbar" starting at 1 a.m. Disaster was averted when with only 20 minutes notice, Doyen stepped in and played through to dawn.

Guests were greeted at the door by our lady of the chains, who took their money, and great delight in telling them that they had to be pawed, before they could enter. She, of course, was talking about the bear stamp used as proof of entry. I cannot imagine why so many of them looked so surprised! |
The crowd was small but seemed to be having fun. The "Den of Mixed Desires" was very popular and provided an experience <grin> for some of the people who wandered through from the Peel main bar.
The entertainment started with our no-go-go boy, who was tied to the birdcage, then left to be the victim in a game of cat & mouse!

Two more brackets of entertainment followed during the night: A boy in a black rubber cat suit was brought on stage, sensitised with hand slaps, his own leather belt and body punches. Then stripped to the waist he was flogged to the beat provided by Doyen's music. Judging from the way he was shaking at the end, he may have preferred it if Doyen had chosen something less pumping and up tempo!
The third performance was a ritualistic blend of flesh, flogging and flames, when the master from the second performance was first given a taste of his own medicine, then allowed to experience what fire can do to a sensitised back. I know that the boy in rubber really enjoyed this performance. I could see him standing in the crowd, his own back red & raw, with a glazed look in his eyes, and a smug grin splitting his face from ear to ear. Just proves that what goes around, comes around!
