WHAT IS LEARNINGGUILD?

Learningguild is an educational and social movement.

Membership is open to everyone who wants to go on learning and help others learn.

There are numerous activities: talks and discussions, a philosophy seminar, individual tuition, a repeatable examination, writing and publishing, meals and excursions. Learningguild assists two Indian schools and has members there.

You can easily find out more from this website and by emailing or posting to the President, Dr John Howes, or his wife Margaret.

Here are seven main features of Learningguild:

o    Open discussion

o    Hospitality

o    Mutual help

o    Continuing membership

o    Affordable tuition, especially in English, with books, booklets, CDs and cassettes suitable to the particular student (many of these are published by Learningguild) and emphasis on the student's own guided use of them

o   A twice-yearly and repeatable examination, open to both members and non-members, for the Learningguild Certificate in Reasoning and Expression

o   Encouragement of members' study and writing, through Learningguild Letter and its supplements, and through the Learningguild Library.
