Lockington Community News is a community initiated and produced newsletter intended to impart to local residents, news and information of a local nature, and to improve communication between the various groups. Copy is always welcome from individuals or groups wishing to report on a recent event or to inform the community of forthcoming activities. All contributions are accepted in good faith and there is no desire or intention to misinform or offend.

600 Copies are distributed each fortnight. Postal subscriptions are available (contact the office). Excerpts from each issue of the Community News will be published on this web site. Names will be used in reports etc. but no personal identification details will be included e.g. name, address, telephone number, age etc. People submitting reports; please advise if the report, or aspects of the report, are not to be placed on this web site.

Brief History
The first issue of the Community News was published on 5 August 1983 and was a project initiated by the Lockington Coordinating Committee to inform people about what was happening in the area.

24 years later with a proactive Committee, the paper is financially viable and an important source of community information. It is thanks to the continued support of volunteers that the paper continues to be published each fortnight.

Typing: Monday Fortnightly, distributed the following Friday.

DEADLINE:

Noon on day of typing, leave items at the office (in the box) or at the Post Office for collection.

We welcome News, Reports and personal items, photos etc, if sending by email please limit if possible to not more than 1000KB (1mb).

Casual Advertising:

Must be accompanied by name, address and phone number (for conformation only and not for publication, without this information we can not print your article).

Charges:

Minimum 5.5cm x 5.5cm AU $6.60 Incl GST (as at this date and subject to change with out notice), please contact the office to discuss larger ad’s.

Charity and Not for Profit Groups:

FREE.

Reports:

A word count limit of 500 words is sufficient for most reports; preference will be given to shorter reports.

Due to space limitations your report may be edited.

Letters to the Editor:

Articles and Reports should be typed or Printed and must show the authors name and contact details.

Controversial / Political:

We do not include Controversial or Political issues or party policies unless we can give equal time and space to all parties or sides of the argument. (Contact details are for office use only and will only be published if requested by the author).

Printed by this paper are done so in good faith and in no way reflect the views held by the “Locky News” voluntary workers, we reserve the right to reject items deemed to be unsuitable.

Any MALICIOUS information will be forwarded to Police.
