Support the Lara Aquatic Centre - A Lara Lions Club/Lara Swimming Club Proposal
The Lara Lions Club & Lara Swimming Club in conjunction with local Lara Councillor, Cr Tony Ansett, needs your support to obtain funding to develop the existing Lara Pool into a Lara Aquatic Centre.
A Lara Aquatic Centre is needed:
The current Lara Pool is only open for a short season and limited opening hours. Lara needs a year round open Aquatic Facility for residents use. Funding is needed from Municipal, State and Federal Government and the Lara Community.
Proposal
- Add a new building adjacent to the main pool to house a Gymnasium and large family activity room
- Cover the main Pool with a suitable roof and retractable walls

- Year round Aquatic, fitness & Gym centre
- Lara Swimming Club training and competition facility
- Mature age people swimming, well being & physiotherapy
- School age children fun & recreation

- Sporting person training & recuperation facility
Currently
- A working group chaired by Lions Club of Lara member Herb Picker including current Lions Club of Lara President, Alan Smedley, and Lion member Robert Eyton, meet regularly to progress the project. Mr Picker was interviewed on 21 April 2006, by consultants engaged by CoGG, who are conducting a detailed feasibility study.
