Lao Acting Army Chief-of-Staff Visits Myanmar

   YAANGON (Nov. 3) XINHUA - Deputy Commander-in-Chief of 
the  Myanmar Defense Services and Commander-in-Chief of the 
Army General  Maung Aye met visiting acting Chief of 
General Staff of the Department  of the Lao People's Army 
Brigadier-General Douangchai Phichith here  today, state-
run Radio Myanmar reported this evening.
   The meeting took place before Douangchai ended his six-
day visit to  Myanmar.
   Douangchai is the first high-ranking Lao military 
official visiting the  country since Myanmar Central 
Commander Major-General Kyaw Than headed  a delegation to 
Vientiane in June 1995.
   At the invitation of Lieutenant-General Tin Oo, Myanmar 
Chief of Bureau  of Special Operations and Chief-of-Staff 
of the Army, Douangchai  arrived here last Wednesday.
