Laos Will Always Support DPRK: Vice President HANOI (Nov. 23) XINHUA - The Lao government will at all times stand by the side of the fraternal Korean people to overcome all difficulties and support the reunification of the Korean people by peaceful means, said Lao Vice President Oudom Khattigna. The Lao official news agency KPL reported Monday that the Lao vice president made the remarks while meeting Deputy Foreign Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Pak Dong Chun Saturday. Pak's delegation arrived in the Lao capital of Vientiane Friday for a three-day visit. During the meeting with Pak, the Lao vice president said that the good ties of friendship between the parties, governments and peoples of Laos and the DPRK have been developing and strengthening gradually. Pak expressed thanks for the assistance provided to the DPRK by the Lao government and people and for the support to the DPRK's unification efforts. He also hoped that the close relations between the parties, governments and peoples of the two nations would grow. Pak invited Oudom Khattigna to visit his country, which the latter accepted. While in Vientiane, the DPRK delegation will also call on Somsavat Lengsavad, deputy prime minister and minister for foreign affairs. Myanmar, Laos Sign Visa Exemption Agreement YANGON (Nov. 23) XINHUA - The Myanmar and Lao governments Monday reached agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports of the two countries' citizens. The agreement was reached shortly after Lao Prime Minister Sisavath Keobounphan arrived in Yangon Monday morning on an official visit to Myanmar. The signing ceremony was attended by Senior General Than Shwe, chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council and prime minister, and the visiting Lao prime minister. On behalf of their respective governments, acting Myanmar Foreign Minister U Khin Maung Win and Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Somsawat Lengsavad, who accompanies the prime minister on the visit, signed the agreement at the People's Parliament building. An agreement between the state-run Myanmar News Agency and the Khaosan Pathet Lao was also signed with Myanmar's Deputy Information Minister Brigadier General Aung Thein and Lao Ambassador to Myanmar Ly Bounkham putting on their signatures. Laotian premier arrives in Yangon YANGON, Nov. 23 (Kyodo) -- Laotian Prime Minister Sisavath Keobounphanh arrived in Yangon on Monday for a four-day goodwill visit, Myanmar's state-run news agency reported. Myanmar's junta leader Senior Gen. Than Shwe greeted Sisavath and his wife at Yangon airport, the report said. CPC Delegation Leaves for Viet Nam, Laos BEIJING (Nov. 23) XINHUA - A cadres' delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) left here this afternoon on a good-will visit to Viet Nam and the Laos. The eight-member delegation, led by Liu Yandong, alternate member and deputy head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, is invited by the Communist Party of Viet Nam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
