The project will extend transmission lines to supply 22,700 new consumers in the provinces of Xien Khouang and Xayaburi and the special region of Xaisomboun and 8,000 new customers in the Vientiane Plain. The project includes rehabilitation of the old power system facilities in the capital of Vientiane. The project comprises three 115 kV lines of 164 km, 76 km and 100 km from Nam Leuk to Xieng Khouang, Xieng Ngeun to Xayaburi, and Nam Ngum to Non Hai, respectively. In addition, four 115/22 kV substations will be established with 350 km of medium-voltage and 400 km of low-voltage distribution lines around the substations. It will also replace or rehabilitate overloaded lines, deteriorated wood poles, and old distribution panels in Vientiane.
