Human Resources Policy

The Lalor Living & Learning Centre is consistent with its aims in its employment and human resource management.

 Appropriate qualifications, preparedness to under take professional development and a commitment to attend staff meetings or equivalent, are considered essential.

 In harmony with its community and participants, preference will be given to those who have a combination of the following:

  • a sound knowledge of working with adult students and at multi-levels of ability.

  • Experience in working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse participants

  • Has a second language

  • An understanding of the migrant experience

  • Familiarity with this locality/region

  • Commitment to life long learning

Volunteers

Volunteers in this program can gain expertise that will assist them in their voluntary role and/or in paid work/further study and contribute their own valuable experience. We are available to provide support and assistance within the Centre and by linking with other services.  We encourage. empower and assist people to use their own initiative on community issues.

The scope for volunteer training has expanded greatly, it includes:

  • Whittlesea Community Connections - Information, referrals, emergency relief, etc.

  • St. Vincent De Paul - Community Services training (Community Development), group work, home visits, etc.

  • Commonwealth Volunteering - prepare under-represented groups to become involved in a range of opportunities related to the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

  • Community Hubs - Assist community groups and individuals in governance, planning , dealing with change and other related issues affecting the good governance and development of community organisations.
