La Chorale Française de Melbourne, Australie
About La La La
La La La, la chorale française de Melbourne, is a highly skilled community choir based in Northcote (an inner northern suburb of Melbourne, Australia).
La La La sings a variety of music from the French-speaking world, mostly a cappella (unaccompanied). When possible, some songs are performed with organ accompaniment.
The choir comprises about 35 members of all ages (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses). Paola Bastreri-Grey, La La La's Musical Director, is a qualified and accomplished music educator, clarinettist, singer and conductor.
Aim of the Choir
La La La aims to celebrate the music of the French-speaking world. This includes songs in Corsican and Basque, music written by French composers, and songs from Francophone countries in Africa and elsewhere.
The group prides itself on its musical excellence, supportive approach, warm and welcoming environment, and sense of fun.
Members share a love of singing, the camaraderie within the choir, the enjoyment of experiencing sublime music in a wide range of genres, and the joy of the French language (even though most members are not fluent French speakers).
