held 25th Changeover Dinner, $1000 was presented to Tocumwal
Historical Air Museum. President Len Soule Snr set precedence by giving all of
the Lions Members a Certificate of Appreciation as recognition of a wonderful
year. Also recognised were non-members
Rob McLaurin, Geoff Gowth, Pat Brown, Barbara Clarke and Rosita Baker. At a BBQ held at the home of Lions Jim &
Elaine Ball, president Len also presented a Certificate of Appreciation and a
small gift each to six youthful volunteers for the courteous way in which they
helped with the Aerodrome Reunion catering. Hosting a Youth Exchange from
Michigan America.
Successful Changeover with number of visitors, long
standing member Lion Bill Williams transferred to Echuca Club, helped cleanup
town for Tidy Towns competition, successful Golf day
Hosting youth exchange for Japan, meeting with Hume
Shire Council representative to arrange for club participation in the Olympic
Torch relay run through Howlong – the club will arrange decorations and sausage
sizzle, lions mints & candy, working bee held at Boomerang Garden to plant
1200 seedlings, Howlong Lions Charity Golf Day raised $1,000. One lion and
partner attended Convention in Perth
The new trees growing well in Lion Park, with
ongoing maintenance, meals on wheels, Lions mints, three girls applied for
youth exchange, Club Welfare officer helping sick members

Conducted a successful raffle with a difference,
called “A pig in a Barrow” raffle. The
porker was donated and reared by local piggery, slaughtering donated by the
Echuca abattoirs, cut and packed by local butcher, vegetables donated by local
greengrocer, wine donated by local supermarket, wheel barrow at cost of local
farm supplier. The raffle was drawn in
Main Street with a profit of $700. Ladies
also conducted a street stall on the same morning resulting in $120

at Elderly persons’ home, attended debutante practice for 8 nights, cleaned and
stocked kiosk, prepared food and worked kiosk at Harness racing meetings,

evening and Cabinet meeting, one Lion and Lions Lady attended International

Held changeover dinner with 41 Lions in attendance,
successful Charity Golf day held with Legacy, Local sign writer Greg ‘Craftsman
Signs’ Edwards presented the club with a sign for the mechanical monster in
Moama Lions Park. The late Bruce Milgate donated the ‘pump engine’ 20 years ago
and visitors were intrigued because they never knew what it was, but now thanks
to Greg they will. The Moama Community Village units in Berry Street are to be
named in memory of the late Bruce Milgate.
The Lions Club of Moama to honor the memory of Bruce Milgate 1930-2000
will dedicate “The Bruce Milgate Retirements Units”. Lion Bruce Milgate was a charter member of both Echuca &
Moama Lions Clubs. A Lion for 34 years
and Life Member of Lions International
