Opening of rose arch on 27 May 1908. Made of rolled steel by Crewther Bros, High St. Kyneton. Plate inscribed "To commemorate the Kyneton Women's Work Exhibition, September 1907". Rose bed was named "The Lady Janet Clarke Bed of Roses". Photograph includes Reginald Argyle (MLA) and Councillor Geoff Hurry (left of centre), Mrs. W. Thomson (in her "widow weeds"), Mr and Mrs Best (extreme left), Mrs McBean, Miss McLouglan, Misses Carr, Barbara Armstrong and P.C. Peter Reudi (on duty, back right). Roses planted were (with planter's name in parentheses): Lady Battersea (Mrs W Thomson); Karl Dreutschi (Mrs Yule); Clara Wilson (Mrs McLennan); Francois Dubrenil (Miss Smith); White Madam Cochet (Mrs Chaffey); Golden Gate (Mrs R B Duncan); Boule D'Or (Mrs Clarke); Madam Abel Cha'enay (Miss Richmond); Gloire de Margottin (Miss Arnold); Etoille de France (Miss Kinear); Caroline Testout (Mrs Hall); Gustave Regis (Mrs E Jarrett).
