AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME |
|
Austin
has a car which travels through time.
Also, in the second draft of the script (date: June 26, 1998)
it says:
The
car takes off, heading for the wall. It DISAPPEARS, leaving flaming
tread marks.
Unfortunately
this wasn't included in the final film. There
was also a line cut from the film where Austin Powers says: "It
makes you wonder how Michael J. Fox did it in all those 'Back
To The Future' movies."
(Source for quote: Shagadelically Speaking - The Words and World
of Austin Powers)
NOTE:
If you are not yet convinced that the time-travelling car is
a reference to BTTF, check out the audio commentary on
the The
Spy Who Shagged Me DVD. Mike Myers clearly states
that it is a homage to the De Lorean.

| Bill
& Ted, soon-to-be time travellers, are playing their guitars
in their garage, until their equipment blows up in a cloud of
smoke. A cuckoo clock then reminds them: "We're late for
school!" Also, Genghis Kahn performs a repeat-of-sorts of
Marty's skateboard-under-car stunt, replacing the car with a
trampoline in the mall. |

CHICKEN RUN |
|
Chicken
Run is
full of references to other films. The BTTF reference is subtle,
but obvious once it's pointed out. As the chickens escapte in
their flying machine, one of the chickens is saved by a string
of lights hanging off the machine - which is reminiscent of Marty
being saved by the string on flags in Part II.
Just after this happens, the pilot of the flying machine yells
"Great Scott!"
One
of the film's Executive Producers is Steven Spielberg.

Dr. Monnitoff is basically telling Donnie that to travel through

Donnie:
"Like a DeLorean?"
Dr. Monnitoff: "Metal craft of any kind."
Donnie: "You know, I love that movie, the way they shot
it. It's so uh...like futuristic, you know?"

FREDDIE GOT FINGERED |
| The
skateboard scene at the beginning of the movie is an homage to
the famous skateboard chase from BTTF. Tom Green acknowledges
this fact on the DVD commentary to his film - talking about how
much he loved the BTTF when he first saw it at 15 years
of age. He also suggests that he considered using Huey Lewis
on the soundtrack during the sequence, but decided to go with
"something a little more punk rock." |

INTO THE WEST |
Firstly,
there is an external shot of a cinema which has a Back to
the Future, Part III poster up. Later, the two kids and their
magic horse break into the cinema's projection booth and manage
to start Part III playing. We can see the Delorean racing
toward the drive-in theatre screen and then, back in 1885, the
Delorean heading toward the Indians!!! The last shot we see is
the Delorean reversing into the cave.
NOTE: We can also hear someone shout "Indians!!!"
like Marty does in Part III, though it doesn't sound like
Michael J Fox in this film. Using his voice and/or image would
have required residuals to be paid to the actor. |
